Located along the shores of Long Island Sound in Waterford, Connecticut, Camp Harkness is a welcoming seaside retreat for individuals with disabilities, together with their families and invited guests.
Across 102 acres of beautiful coastal and wooded grounds, visitors can enjoy the beach, scenic walkways, gardens, picnic areas, accessible recreation, overnight accommodations, summer programs, and peaceful places to relax and spend time together.
For generations, Camp Harkness has been a place where barriers are reduced, friendships grow, and individuals and families can experience recreation, belonging, and memories that last.
A personal connection
My husband is a Camp Harkness member, and it is a place we have enjoyed visiting together. Through those visits, I have seen firsthand the friendship, freedom, accessibility, and sense of belonging that make Camp Harkness so special. I created these books to celebrate its familiar places and the treasured memories made there.
